#ThursdaysThoughts – Develop people and develop culture and WIN! WIN is What’s Important Now, and majority of the time it’s business! You see I see a trend every year about this time. As companies wrap up the year, they “adjust” accordingly. You know, the ole corporate bilateral restructure, when people are “laid off”! It’s almost funny, but yet each of these companies doing this don’t really get farther the next year. Their market share doesn’t really go up much, or anything noteworthy.
What I suggest is you big wigs spend more time developing the sales force you have. PROVIDE them MORE TOOLS, give them MORE TRAINING and make trackable metrics to evaluate performance. I think it’s a shame, instead of firing, slow down the HIRING, and develop others.
Culture internally with big companies is a must. Tell me if you walk down your hallway today, is it all WHITE, with NO PICTURES on the wall? Is there any “sales data” on a whiteboard you can see, or a sales contest being “counted down”?? How about this, when was the last time you developed more tools for your sales force, or showed that sales team how to increase sales with more “marketing” tips and tricks?
